Save Money by Washing Your Hands

Yesterday I wrote about how I was ready for Spring time and gardening, but the reality is that we're still stuck in the middle of cold and flu season. Being sick is expensive. At best, you have to spend several dollars on medicine. At worse, you have to take time off work and pay a doctor bill.

In this season, finding cheap ways to stay healthy is important. That's why I read with interest a recent article in USA Today on the science of hand-washing
. Keeping your hands clean and germ free may be one of your best defenses against catching a cold or the flu. Here are some fascinating points in the story:

1. 80% of infections are transferred by touch

2. If you wash your hands regularly, you can be 24% less like to get a respiratory illness and up to 50% less likely to catch a stomach bug.

Conclusion: hand-washing can be a cheap way to stay healthy. What are some other inexpensive things you're doing to try to stay healthy this season?
